More about this activity

Telescope has two basic modes:

==Live mode==

This mode allows the user to view the live image stream from the camera. Furthermore following controls and settings can be set in this mode:

* Capture the image
* Change camera settings like Exposure, Brightness, Contrast etc.
* Delay while capturing the image
* Digitally zoom the live image by 1X, 2X, 3X and 4X

==Preview mode==

This mode allows the user to view and modify the images captured. Following actions are possible:

* Previewing the images captured within this instance of the journal entry.
* Change the image title
* Save the image as a journal entry
* Delete the image (does not affect any journal entry that may have been created related to the image)

==Switching between modes==

There is a button which allows the user to switch between the two modes.

==Notes==

* Images stored to the journal are also assigned the 'XoScope' tag. This can be useful when searching through the journal.

==Known Issues==

* On an XO laptop, zoom level '3' in the Live Mode seems to be messed up.

==Development==

* Telescope has been developed by Emmanuel Di Folco (Concept), and Anish Mangal (Design and Development).

Developer Comments

This activity should work well on xo laptops, but hasn't been tested extensively on non-xo platforms.

Release Notes

Version 12 — October 25, 2011 — 148 KB

* Additional experimental 'Camera Gain' control mode. This adds the functionality of controlling the camera gain, with the option of switching automatic gain on/off.

Note: Generally speaking, more gain=more noise, so if you have to choose between a higher gain and higher exposure for similar looking images, go for higher exposure.
