More about this activity

As with all my activities so far there are no instructions.
I imagine students madly clicking everything in sight until they finally work out how this "strange machine" operates.
In all there are 40 different target patterns to create.
For the first time I have made use of the right mouse button - I'll leave you to work out how it is implemented.

Developer Comments

I anticipate students will enjoy comparing how many patterns they have created.
Unlike "Spirolaterals", the turtle can continue "off-screen" - this can produce some interesting patterns - some of which I was tempted to include in the target set.

Version 22 — May 3, 2011 — 267 KB

I've learnt a lot since this activity was first created.

The plan is to revisit all my activities and implement what I have learnt.

To make it easy to recognise these revisited versions, they will all start at Version number 21. You can easily tell which version you have by pressing the v key - if this gives no response, then you have an older version.

These mouse alternatives are now available in Turtle Machine:

* square or spacebar = new round
* tick or enter = change speed

This activity will now work properly without alteration in a non-Sugar environment.
